Doppler Ultrasound: Used to check the internal structures of the erect penis, including vascularization.

The clinical history and the progressive nature of penile curvature are important for the diagnosis of Peyronie’s Disease—and the patient can help the doctor optimize the diagnosis.

The strategy recommended by the urologist is to keep a photographic record of the evolution of the curvature. This way, it is possible to monitor if there has been improvement, worsening, or stabilization of the condition.

The Ideal Treatment Depends on the Stage of Peyronie’s Disease

Patients diagnosed with Peyronie’s Disease should receive personalized treatments based on the stage of the disease and the characteristics of the case.

The acute (or inflammatory) phase of the condition is usually treated with medication, combined with physiotherapy and a vacuum pump, to ensure patient satisfaction with functionality and aesthetics.

In the scarring phase, when fibrosis is already stabilized, it is important to evaluate whether erectile dysfunction is present and if the curvature is impairing sexual life.
