GH (Growth Hormone) Does Not Enlarge the Penis, and Its Use in Adults Is Limited to Confirmed Hormonal Deficiency. There Are Other Techniques Aimed at Increasing Penile Girth – Learn More!
Penile fillers with hyaluronic acid do not alter the internal structure of the corpora cavernosa – they only coat the outside of the organ, which can create resistance during penetration and even lead to complications such as trauma and Peyronie’s Disease in the future.
Learn more about the real functions of GH, its medical indications, and understand when there may be a surgical option for penile enlargement in specific cases like severe erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s Disease.
What Is GH?
GH is a hormone that stimulates bone growth to increase height, which is why it’s called growth hormone.
Other functions of GH include fat burning and the maintenance of bone density and muscle mass.
It is produced by the pituitary gland, located at the base of the skull, and about two-thirds are secreted at night during deep sleep.
Although growth hormone therapy is prescribed for cases of GH deficiency, many people misuse GH to enhance athletic performance. The most famous case is the athlete Ben Johnson, who lost his gold medal won at the Seoul Olympics (1988) and was banned from the sport for two years.
What Is the Relationship Between GH and Erectile Function in Adult Men?
The relationship between growth hormone and the penis is that GH contributes to the production of steroid hormones, such as testosterone.
In addition to aiding in the production of the main male hormone, GH also stimulates nitric oxide, a substance that improves blood flow.
Because one of the functions of testosterone is to regulate sexual function and proper blood circulation is essential for erection, having adequate GH levels helps with sexual performance.
So, Does GH Enlarge the Penis?
GH does not enlarge the penis. In fact, there are no treatments endorsed by the medical community, as explained in this article from the Brazilian Society of Urology.
What Is GH’s Effect on the Male Body?
The benefits of GH are observed in growth hormone therapy, a procedure prescribed when there is a confirmed deficiency of this hormone. See what they are:
- Reduction of body fat;
- Increased physical capacity;
- Increase in lean mass.
Who Should Not Use GH?
GH should not be used by pregnant women, people with cancer, or those with a benign intracranial tumor. In addition, conditions like diabetes and untreated hypothyroidism require extra caution before starting hormone replacement. Here’s why:
- Diabetes: GH can raise glucose levels and worsen diabetic retinopathy, a diabetes-related complication that affects the retina;
- Untreated hypothyroidism: individuals with hypothyroidism do not produce enough triiodothyronine and thyroxine, and this condition must be treated before initiating growth hormone therapy to avoid aggravating hypothyroidism.
What Increases Penis Size?
There are no safe treatments for that purpose.
This technical note from the Technical Chambers of Urology and Plastic Surgery, published by the Regional Medical Council of Santa Catarina, explains that there is no scientific data guaranteeing the effectiveness and safety of penile enlargement procedures.
Is There Any Hormone That Enlarge the Penis?
Hormone treatment to enlarge the penis is not effective after puberty.
However, testosterone replacement can show good results in boys with micropenis. This study on children who received testosterone once a month for three months shows that penile size increased after hormone therapy.
How to Safely Enlarge the Penis?
Purely aesthetic penile enlargement, especially in girth, is still an area lacking solid scientific support. Techniques such as hyaluronic acid fillers or other substances do exist, but we do not recommend or perform these procedures for aesthetic purposes.
These methods do not increase the internal structure of the corpora cavernosa. In practice, the penis shaft is coated externally, similar to applying a layer of plaster to a concrete pillar – the external volume may increase, but the support structure remains the same. This can create more resistance during penetration, raise the risk of microtrauma, and, in the long run, promote the development of penile curvature and even Peyronie’s Disease.
When there is a clear clinical indication – as in severe erectile dysfunction or advanced Peyronie’s Disease – it is possible to reconstruct the tunica albuginea using the Egydio technique. In such cases, the procedure can provide a real increase in penile girth and width, respecting the patient’s anatomical and functional limits.
When Should You See a Urologist?
A urologist should be consulted whenever there are questions about penile anatomy, pain, urinary symptoms, erectile or fertility issues, and also for preventive routine check-ups.
