How Masturbation Changes with a Penile Prosthesis: Key Differences and Essential Care Tips

Masturbation with a penile prosthesis can be as pleasurable as the experience men had before developing penile dysfunctions. In other words, it’s possible to have a quality sexual life even when alone.

Masturbation is a common and, most of the time, safe and healthy sexual practice for men. This act can provide physical and emotional benefits.

However, when a man has a penile implant, it’s important that he follows certain care and guidelines to have a positive self-pleasure experience, as well as to avoid problems with the device. Check out how to masturbate with a penile prosthesis!

Masturbation with a Penile Prosthesis: Malleable

When considering masturbation with a malleable penile prosthesis, the first step is to carefully align the prosthesis, positioning it vertically. This is necessary as many men prefer to adjust the position of the prosthesis downwards or to the sides in everyday life.

Before explaining how to masturbate with a malleable penile prosthesis, I need to provide some context. During consultations in the office, it’s common to ask patients about their masturbation habits. Many men report that they are used to rubbing the penis skin against the glans during the process, that is, covering and uncovering the penis head.

The main issue is that, after the implantation of the malleable penile prosthesis with penile reconstruction resulting in a larger penis, the skin often can no longer completely cover the glans and may become stretched. This can be a noticeable change for those patients who had the habit of sliding the skin forward during masturbation.

To avoid discomfort, it’s highly recommended to use a lubricant when handling the glans area. This not only helps to reduce friction but can also provide a more comfortable and pleasurable experience.

I hope this information is helpful and clarifying. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

In the video I published, available on my YouTube channel, I share instructions on how to use a malleable penile prosthesis for masturbation.

Masturbation with a Penile Prosthesis: Inflatable

It’s essential to highlight that masturbation doesn’t require the penis to be in an erect state. This means that, even when a man faces erectile dysfunction, he can still masturbate even if his penis is not fully erect.
With that said, men with an inflatable prosthesis can masturbate in two ways: with the prosthesis deflated or inflated.

In the first case, it’s possible to lubricate the hands and rub the glans. This movement causes a pleasurable sensation to the man, which can lead to orgasm and ejaculation, leaving him satisfied.

Now, if he wants to masturbate with an erect penis, it’s necessary to inflate the prosthesis using the pump located in the scrotum.

When the penis is erect, it’s time to start masturbating, using lubricant on the hands to avoid friction.

After finishing masturbation, simply deflate the prosthesis.

Importance of Lubrication in Masturbation

Lubrication is very important in any sexual practice, including masturbation, for men with or without a penile pro
sthesis.

However, it is crucial for all men, regardless of whether they have undergone implant surgery or not.

For masturbation, it’s ideal to apply the lubricant to the palm of the hand before starting the act.

The use of lubricant for masturbation helps to prevent friction, avoids straining the penis, and prevents skin injury – care that becomes even more relevant after the placement of the prosthesis.

Types of Lubricant

There are various types of lubricants available on the market to suit individual preferences and needs.
Water-based lubricants are the most common and versatile. They are easy to find, rarely cause allergies, and can be applied directly to the skin, condoms, or toys. However, they dry quickly, which requires frequent reapplication.

On the other hand, oil-based lubricants, made for example with coconut oil, almonds, among others. Their effect lasts longer than water-based, but they are not compatible with latex, are more difficult to remove, and can cause allergies.

Sex After Penile Prosthesis

After getting a penile prosthesis, a man will have penetrative capacity for sexual intercourse, as the penis will be able to overcome penetrative resistance and will not slip out during movement.
With this change, learn what to expect beyond masturbation with a penile prosthesis.

Orgasm

In the first times post-penile prosthesis, it’s very common for men to feel anxious, whether due to uncertainty about what it will be like or due to performance expectations. Therefore, he might not experience orgasm.
It’s interesting that, before having the first intercourse with a partner, he practices masturbation with a penile prosthesis. Besides getting used to the novelty, it relieves the emotional load that he will have in the first relationships.

Sensitivity and Erotization

To reach climax, a man needs to become erotically stimulated. This involves brain activation.
A suitable moment, proper environment, kisses and touches, words, sounds, images, and erotic toys, for example, can help a man become erotically stimulated.

Sensitivity does not change. The implant is placed inside the corpora cavernosa, without interfering with the nerves responsible for sensations.

However, to enhance sensitivity and reach climax, erotization is necessary!

Ejaculation with Penile Prosthesis

Ejaculation, most of the time, is associated with orgasm. So, if you are able to reach orgasm, whether in masturbation with a penile prosthesis or in sexual intercourse, you will likely ejaculate normally.
Those who experience retrograde ejaculation, where semen goes into the bladder and is then eliminated in urine, will continue to ejaculate in this manner. This condition is common in diabetic men, those who have undergone prostate surgery, or those affected by neurological conditions.

In older men, it’s natural for the muscles that produce the ejaculatory jet to weaken, while the semen volume decreases. However, ejaculation still occurs.

Remember, none of this prevents a man from giving pleasure to his partner. The orgasm of the other person does not depend on your ejaculation, but rather on the erotization of the partner.

After understanding the new ways of obtaining pleasure, masturbation with a penile prosthesis, and all intimate moments will be even better, and you will be able to have a higher quality of sexual life.

Do not hesitate to seek medical help for conditions where your penis is losing rigidity. A penile implant might be the appropriate treatment for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s Disease. Consult a doctor.
